flooding in west virginia, west virginia flood, gilbert west virginia, gilbert wv, west virginia ,West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin has activated 300 National Guard troops to help residents in the state’s southern coalfields recover from weekend flooding.
Flood waters have closed roads and damaged hundreds of structures.
The 300 guardsmen are in addition to the 30 Manchin activated Saturday.
No injuries have been reported. Seven miners trapped underground because of high water were able to walk out of the Mountaineer Alma mine near Wharncliffe this morning.
